Outward Hound Lifejacket
I know you were looking at adorable Mr. Meaty in his lifejacket and wondering where he got it!
My big dog Anna, being a lab/shepherd cross, has webbed feet and is an incredible swimmer. Mr. Meaty on the other hand, being a pug with a stubby nose and normal dog feet, has a terrible time in the water. Waves splash into his face, and he isn’t a very good swimmer.
This is why I decided to buy him a little lifejacket. We were going to be living in a little fishing village in Mexico and I knew that sometimes we would be taking the boat back and forth to the city. I was worried because I wasn’t sure whether Meaty would ever attempt to jump out of the boat, and, like most dog owners, I knew if the boat ever tipped, I’d probably drown myself trying to save my dogs. Better to get lifejackets than be sorry!
The Outward Hound Lifejacket comes in lots of sizes, all with thick velcro and nylon straps with clips that are fully adjustable. It’s really easy to get the lifejacket on and off your dog, and the fit is very comfortable. Mr. Meaty has never made a fuss about putting his jacket on, and pugs are notorious for being uncooperative with such shenanigans.
The feature I love most about this jacket is the sturdy handle on the back. I can pick my dog up like a purse and carry him off the pier and into the boat. Naturally you aren’t going to do this with a large dog, but the handle is intended for lifting your dog out of the water should you need to.
Mr. Meaty is the most fashionable dog on the pier with his snappy little jacket, and I think he knows it!
